Double Crescent Sigil Necklace
Several years ago, I experimented with designing some personal sigils and developed the pattern on the two enamel disks of this one-of-a-kind necklace. I etched this double crescent symbol into fine (pure) silver (the top disk) and copper (the bottom disk) and added enamel.
The top disk is an example of the champleve technique, where enamel is added to the etched area only and then ground so the enamel is flush with the silver surface. In the bottom disk I filled in the etched area, but covered the whole piece with enamel and added fine layers of metal oxides using the Limoges technique.
These disks are set in a handcrafted sterling setting with 3 faceted topaz and suspended from a double link sterling chain that I added hand-made double crescent sterling elements to. The chain can be secured at several different points, making it adjustable from 16 to 24 inches.
