The necklace consists of an enameled copper disk with a garnet cabochon and brass watch gears. It hangs from a twisted copper wire, which in turn hangs from a handcrafted twisted copper neck ring which is 5 inches wide and 5.7 inches tall.
Sometimes the way clear enamel reacts with copper oxides is pure magic. It usually, alas! happens by accident. The colors and swirling pattern of the enamel made me think of the sun's charged and dynamic surface.
